Course Description
This workshop will demonstrate the application of lean and six-sigma methodologies within your product development organization to significantly decrease your time to market, providing you a competitive advantage that will enable your company reach new levels of profitability. When looking to get the waste out of your transactional environment, collapsing product development time can have a significant impact on your company's bottom line. In this workshop, we’ll demonstrate the power in combining the lean and six-sigma tool kit, cross-functional project management, and the need for collaborative solutions (breaking down the silos between product development and the supply chain). This workshop is taught using lecture, group excercises and real case study examples that demonstrate the application of the concepts presented. Join us and learn how the complementary methodologies of lean and six-sigma provide the edge necessary to significantly reduce development cycle time and cost, and improve product quality.
Learning Objectives
In this workshop, participants will
- identify the common issues that affect product development
- understand how lean concepts can be applied to product development
- gain insight into different product characteristics and selection of the appropriate design strategy
- understand the role of the supply chain and the alignment with product development in order to develop low cost products
- understand how product quality is improved by using data to understand process variability and capability through Manufacturing Process Control and Design for Six-Sigma
Who
should attend?
This workshop is intended for all individuals interested in gaining insight regarding the application and benefits that can be achieved by applying lean and six-sigma in product development.
Company Vice Presidents, General Managers, Engineering Leaders, and Supply Chain Managers will gain an understanding of the benefits that can be realized in terms of reducing development cycle time, reducing product cost, and improving product quality through the application of these concepts.
Engineering, product development, manufacturing, and supply chain practitioners will benefit by understanding the key elements and gain insight into the step-by-step methodology to make real and lasting improvement in their product development processes.
A key outcome of the workshop will be a fundamental understanding of the key elements required to improvement product development. Further, a suggested sequence for implementation will be presented in the workshop that will enable the participant to maximize the benefits of each element.
These benefits include:
Increases in worker efficiency, and reductions in expediting and employee multitasking through the implementation of resource and workload management processes
- Reductions product development cycle time through the application of lean concepts in the development process and the selection of a design strategy matched with the needs of the product
- Reductions in product cost by integrating and aligning the supply chain strategy with the objectives for product development
- Improvements in product quality though the deployment of Manufacturing Process Control focused on process variability and Design for Six Sigma employing process capability
- Lean Principles in Product Development
- Resource and Workload Management
- Group Exercise
- Design Process and Knowledge Capture
- Manufacturing and Supply Chain Integration
- Manufacturing Process Control
- Design for Six-Sigma
