Fundamental Principles

Lean Six Sigma defines an approach and the associated principles for analyzing operational performance in four fundamental areas:

  • 1. Process Management

The objective is to develop efficient, reliable, and predictable processes which are capable of delivering products and services based on customer demand. In real terms this involves Voice of the Customer (VOC) input analyzing the process from end to end using the appropriate Lean tools, i.e. process mapping, value stream management, and process flow techniques to eliminate waste, standardize activities, and meet the variability of design and customer demand.

  • 2. Performance Management

This consists of introducing, at all levels of the organization, a system and method of performance management with performance indicators adapted to each level of the organization and, a structured process for strategy alignment and management: hoshin kanri (policy deployment).

  • 3. Behavior Development

Central to an effective organization is employee involvement led by responsible teams that operate in compliance with standardized processes. It is therefore important to introduce different methods of team and small group approaches, based on the development of people and their responsibilities (empowerment), with supportive leadership processes that focus on developing skills and supporting organizational and personal change.

  • 4. Organization

The organization will be defined in accordance with the boundaries and constraints of the cross-functional management of flows, and the roles, responsibilities, and professional skills required for the effective management of the technical processes.

Lean Six Sigma therefore helps you transform your organization into an efficient, customer-focused and “knowledgeable” organization.
