Chase the Rabbit Instead of Chasing Your Tail
A Special Interactive Session featuring YOU and Steven Spear
Objective
Applying institutionalized innovation across the board is not merely the realm of a few idiosyncratic inspired geniuses. It depends on core capabilities that can be taught, cultivated, practiced, and applied effectively. This workshop will:
- Introduce the capabilities that characterize the highest velocity, most innovative organizations
- Explore how these capabilities apply in your particular work
- Identify what leaders need to do to cultivate and engage the capabilities
- Develop an action plan for initial ‘test of concept’
Background
Across a broad variety of hyper competitive sectors, a few organizations simply outrun their competition. Though competing in the same markets for the same customers, offering similar products and services, reliant on the same suppliers, and subject to the same rules and regulations, they nevertheless generate more value [from the customer’s perspective], in less time, with less effort, at less cost. The resulting success pays dividends to all concerned: customers, employees, shareholders, and suppliers.
The secret to the success of these leaders is that when they face the common challenges of identifying market needs, generating product and service designs and offerings to meet those needs, they attack all the attendant uncertainty with innovation, that in-turn, becomes so organically institutionalized that no one can match its speed, endurance, and breadth.
You will learn
Through a combination of lecture, case study, and small group exercises you will learn:
- The basic principles and frameworks on which leading companies depend to establish enormous commercial success despite being in hyper competitive industries
- How these principles apply across a spectrum of heavy industry and high tech, product design and manufacturing, and the service sector
- What it takes for the rapid development of a community of discoverers
- What your team can start doing as soon as tomorrow and in the next few weeks to increase your competitiveness [achieve high velocity] and outdistance your rivals
Participants
This workshop is targeted for senior leaders [and their direct reports] who are eager to accelerate design, delivery, or administrative processes for which they are responsible; and those subject matter experts charged with advancing programs in quality, operational excellence, enterprise-wide lean, safety, strategic planning and deployment, etc.
Class size is limited to 20 participants to best encourage free flowing discussion and participant inter-action with Steven Spear and Productivity Inc. advisors.
Participants [and their team] should come prepared to share in an evaluation [perspective] of a business critical process relative to their operating environment: what it is, why it is important, how it operates, where it struggles, and what has been done to better it. Plus, all participants will be expected to collaborate in a small group setting on assigned case studies.
