Maintenance Miracle - An Autonomous Maintenance Kaizen Event

Maintenance Miracle

Coming November 2012...

Course Description

Autonomous maintenance is a team-based approach to maintenance activities and part of a total productive maintenance (TPM) process.  The process is a partnership between operators, maintenance technicians, engineers and leaders in the operating and maintaining of the equipment.  The goal of autonomous maintenance is to prepare operators to do some equipment care independently of the maintenance staff.

This Maintenance Miracle Kaizen Event is not an awareness course, but a hands-on training in a proven methodology for the successful implementation of an autonomous maintenance (AM) effort.  Learn the steps necessary to involve operators in maintaining their own equipment through daily inspections, lubrications, detecting abnormalities, and precision checks.  The result is restoration of equipment to its ideal state, establishment of basic conditions for maintaining it, and preventing equipment deterioration.  Properly implemented AM eliminates the causes of 40-60% of unplanned downtime, freeing skilled trades for more specialized activities, like major overhauls, upgrades, predictive programs and new equipment planning and design.

In this 3 and ½ day event, participants will learn how autonomous maintenance developed to support Lean manufacturing and how it maximizes equipment effectiveness.   During the classroom training participants will gain exposure to Total Productive Maintenance, a 5 pillar team based approach to total equipment care, and learn about its vital role in a successful Lean implementation.  Participants will deep dive the seven step autonomous maintenance process that is the focus of the event.

Then working in teams along side associates from the host facility, participants will apply the methods learned as they work to transform current state to future state and increase equipment effectiveness and availability.  At the end of the program, teams will report results to the group.

At the conclusion of the event, you will understand the techniques and have the skills necessary to begin an autonomous maintenance effort in your own facility.
